100 Sets Of Olympic Podium For Waste Plastics

- Jun 20, 2019-

According to Japan’s Asahi Shimbun, the podium of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Paralympic Games will implement the concept of environmental protection and make use of recyclable household plastic products. The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee said it will produce about 100 sets of podiums, which will require 45,000 kilograms of recycled plastic. This is the first time in history.

The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee announced earlier that the gold, silver and bronze medals for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be made from discarded electronic equipment. Now they have new initiatives. The podium of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be mainly made of recyclable household plastic products.

These podiums, which will be built from recycled plastic, may also be reinforced with aluminum, using metal from the sash of temporary houses built after the earthquake and tsunami in the Fukushima area in northeastern Japan in 2011. It is expected that these podiums will be completed around June 2020. After the event, the podium will be reused as a school educational material.

The discarded plastic products needed to make the podium will be collected through 2,000 retail stores in Japan. The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee said that starting from June 13, 2019, the local AEON supermarket chain in Japan will set up collection boxes in more than 2,000 branches to facilitate residents to discard any unwanted plastic items for the Olympic podium.

Zinc 2-Ethylhexanoate produced by our company has good thermal stability in PVC products. Zinc 2-Ethylhexanoate can effectively inhibit the initial thermal degradation of PVC and delay the initial coloring time. It is generally required to be combined with other isooctanoate and organic heat stability. The agent is used in combination.
