Environmentally Friendly Water-based Ink

- Nov 11, 2020-

In the packaging and printing industry, with the application of flexo printing technology in the field of flexible packaging, water-based inks have also been expanded.

The main difference between water-based ink and solvent ink is that the solvent used in water-based ink is not organic solvent but water. The binder is composed of resin and water, such as China C9 Resin, C5 Petroleum Resin, etc.

The main components of water-based inks are colorants, water-based binders, solvents and various additives. When printing, although it is slightly different from the traditional domestic and foreign ink manufacturing processes and technical indicators for the same purpose, the principle of completing the printing and packaging is the same.

It is necessary to control the viscosity during use: low viscosity, fast ink transfer, will cause light color, dot deformation, uneven ink transfer, etc.; high viscosity, slow ink transfer, uneven ink color, and sometimes the color is not deep and easy to cause Disadvantages such as dirty version and paste version.

Control the PH value: control in the range of 8.5-9-5, the printing performance of water ink is the best, and the printing quality is the most stable.

Control the thickness: Too thick ink will cause problems such as piling up and paste, and the coloring power and hue of the ink will decrease: the ink is too thin, and the fluidity is too large, and it will flow after printing and deposition, which will expand the dots and affect the printing. Quality.

Flexographic printing can choose different thicknesses of inks according to different requirements. Prints with finer screen lines and high precision require higher fineness of the inks: the thickness of the inks when printing is not very demanding or when printing on the spot. Can be lowered. It complements flexographic printing and carries out the concept of environmental protection to the end. This is the mission of water-based inks in the field of flexible packaging.
