FT-IR Analysis Of N-vinylcaprolactam Microgel

In Figure 1 below, at 3102 cm-1, the CH stretching vibration of the unsaturated C=C double bond in the n-vinylcaprolactam (NVCL) monomer, the stretching vibration of the C=C double bond at 1654 cm-1, n-vinyl Caprolactam is essentially a tertiary amide. This structure attached to the tertiary N causes C=O to move to a low wavenumber, and at 1622 cm-1 is a C=O stretching vibration of NVCL.

It can be seen that i, ii, iii, iv, and v have strong absorption peaks around 1620 cm-1, and it should be judged that C=O stretching vibration is compared with n-vinylcaprolactam (NVCL). Atlas, it can be found that the stretching vibration of the C=C double bond in the polymer microgel did not occur, which proved that the polymerization reaction occurred.
