Several Methods For Identifying Titanium Dioxide

- Mar 27, 2019-

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is an important inorganic chemical product, which has important applications in coatings, inks, paper, plastics, chemicals, ceramics and other industries. Titanium dioxide (English name: titanium dioxide), the main component is white pigment of titanium dioxide (TiO2). The scientific name is titanium dioxide, and the molecular formula is TiO2, which is a polycrystalline compound with regular particles arranged in a lattice structure. Titanium dioxide has the lowest relative density. The production process of titanium dioxide has two routes of sulfuric acid method and chlorination method.

Several ways to identify titanium dioxide:

Physical method:

The easiest way is to compare the feel, the fake titanium dioxide is slippery, and the real titanium dioxide is more sturdy. Water rushing, the hand is stained with titanium dioxide, the fake is easy to wash away, it is really not easy to wash away. Take a glass of water, throw titanium dioxide into it, the floating up is true, the precipitation is false (if it is activated modified products will not work).

Chemical method:

Mixed with light calcium or heavy calcium: adding dilute sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, there are bubbles to make the clarified lime water become turbid, because calcium carbonate will react with acid to produce dioxide mixed with lithopone: add dilute sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, smell of rotten eggs . Made of latex paint, iron red, dark color, indicating the difference in hiding power is fake or poor quality titanium dioxide.

There are also two better ways:

Using the same PP + 30% GF + 5% PP-G-MAH + 0.5% titanium dioxide, the lower the strength, the more true the titanium dioxide (rutile).

Select a transparent resin, such as transparent ABS + 0.5% titanium dioxide, measure the light transmittance, the lower the light transmittance, the more true the titanium dioxide.
